Poem : Discover The World God Created

A Helping Hand

God created the blind,
so that you can appreciate your sight.

God created the deaf,
so that you can appreciate that you can hear.

God created the mute,
so that you can appreciate that you can speak.

God created the ugly,
so that you can appreciate beauty.

God allows sickness,
so that you can appreciate your health.

God created the poor,
so that you can appreciate your wealth.

God didn’t create the poor to be deprived,
or the ill to suffer, or the weak to be defenseless.

God created a system of harmony,
a world in which everyone gives and everyone receives.

The strong defend the weak,
and the weak teach sensitivity to the strong.

The wise teach wisdom to the ignorant,
and the ignorant teach humility to the wise.

The rich give the poor valuables to enjoy in life,
and the poor give the rich an opportunity to make life valuable.

There’s a vast eternal plan, and you play a part.

So go out and find your counterpart,
begin to share what you have and receive what you lack.

You will soon discover a world of health, wealth, peace, and love.
You will discover the world God created.

September : A Month To Remember

A Month To Remember

It was a perfect time of opportunity
For the hired nurses to work in Ministry.
Everyone was getting excited and ready
Because leaving the country
Was the only way to feed the family.

Telling goodbyes to friends and family
Was the hardest thing to say.
Pretending that everything was alright
But deep down their hearts were weeping
‘Cause nobody knew what fates were waiting
For them in the State of Kuwait.

September was the month to remember
For the nurses who joined hands together
And who promised to help one another.
My brothers and sisters, thank you for
Remembering this month of the year.
Thank you for the friendship that lasted a year.

This poem is my tribute to my batchmates here in Ministry of Health, Kuwait. On Sept. 20, 2011, our first year of friendship.

Poem : A Nurse by Alon Calinao Dy

A Nurse by Alon Calinao Dy

When all of your loved ones are gone
As you’re waiting for the doctor to come,
I’m the one that you’re getting angry of
‘Cause you see me coming around.
Instead of hating you or getting mad,
I try to show you how to understand.

Though I’m not a doctor to save someone’s life,
I ‘ll sit close beside you and I will listen
To your complaints, suffering, and pain
Somehow, I may take away all your fears.

Though I’m not a doctor who prescribes medicines,
I’ll serve you with tender, loving, and care.
For me, that’s something I should be proud.
Even in your slightest discomforts,
I am with you always
Making sure that you’re all right,
As you’re taking care with love and respect.

I am the one who believes in miracles
With my soft and gentle voice,
I bring you love and hope,
Render you my skillful care,
And show you my priceless smiles.
I am the one that comforts,
Stands and cares for you.

The one who dares to touch your hands
In your delicate moments
When you’re feeling lonely and hopeless.
I’m the one who lets you know
That I will stay close beside you
When there is no one to embrace you.

Yes, I am the one with white uniforms.
A nurse with a caring nature
Who has compassion and empathy to others.
An advocate nurse
That the ultimate goal on earth is
For the best of human race.
