Lucifer is a fallen angel who was the head of the ministry of music in Heaven when he was in heaven. It has been said of him he was the most beautiful of ALL angels and he was the director of the flow of music there (Praise and Worship).
Of course, now he no longer is….. but there are several scriptural references throughout the bible the denote his previous authority over music when he was in heaven. One is Isa.14:11 – “Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.”
This verse right here is speaking of his fall from heaven, and how all of the glory he had, and the gifts he had fell with him. The noise of thy viols indicates the stringed instruments he had charge over. But yes, actually throughout the bible in passages in the books of Ezekiel, Job, Isaiah, even Psalms upon speaking of his past life…it tells us he was the minister of music there. Of course he no longer is now though.
Lucifer means morning star.
Job 38:7 – When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy
Lucifer was basically a walking talking musical instrument.
Ezekiel 28:13 – Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: THE WORKMANSHIP OF THY TIMBRELS AND OF THY PIPES WAS PREPARED IN THE DAY THAT THOU WAST CREATED.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

These were the same words that were spoken of lucifer in

Seraphim
The Seraphim (singular “Seraph”), mentioned in Isaiah 6:1-7 , serve as the caretakers of God’s throne and continuously singing his praises: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. All the earth is filled with His Glory.” It is said that they surround the throne of God, singing the music of the spheres and regulating the movement of the heavens as it emanates from God. It is also said that such a bright light emanates from them that nothing, not even other divine beings, can look upon them. It is said that there are four of them surrounding God’s throne, where they burn eternally from love and zeal for God.
The Seraphim have six wings; two covering their face, two covering their feet, and two that they fly with.
Unlike other Seraphim who had six wings, Lucifer was featured to have twelve wings.
Cherubim
The Cherubim (singular “Cherub”) are beyond the throne of God; they are the guardians of light and of the stars. It is believed that, although they are removed from man’s plane of reality, the divine light that they filter down from Heaven still touches the lives of living things.
They have four faces: one of a man, ox, lion, and eagle. The ox-face is considered the “true face”, as later on in Ezekiel the ox’s face is called a cherub’s face (Chapter 10). They have eight conjoined wings covered with eyes, and they have ox’s feet.
Cherubim are considered the elect beings for the purpose of protection. Cherubim guard Eden and the throne of God.
Their rank among angels is uncertain but they are always categorized in the First Sphere. Some believe them to be an order or class of angels; others hold them to be a class of heavenly beings higher than angels. Cherubim are said to have perfect knowledge of God, surpassed only by the love of the Seraphim.
The Cherubim are mentioned in Genesis 3:24 ; Ezekiel 10:17-20 ; and 1 Kings 6:23-28.
Since Lucifer/beelzebub seemed to have been greater than the other beings, he is thought to be the chief of music.
Conclusion:–
So it is obvious that Lucifer, at the very least, contained something akin to musical instruments – the tambourine, the flute, and the harp all within the confines of his own body. Since Lucifer is a created being, he was originally created with instruments to provide beautiful music for none other than the glorification of God. Lucifer, being the most authoritative and superior angel that he was, at best, was also probably the angel of music.
The point of this study is to see, purely from a theological view, if in fact Satan has a connection with and a direct influence on music, which has become undoubtedly clear that he does. We must remember that some, not all music, can come from evil sources no matter how lovely, beautiful or pleasing it may sound to the ears. For we know that the devil can masquerade as an angel of light (II Corinthians 11:14). Music, I believe, has a twofold purpose. To glorify God or not, it’s as simple as that. As we have seen, music was initially created for that purpose up until Satan’s rebellion. What he has done with music from that point on becomes a whole other issue.
I had myself quite an impressive CD collection of music ranging from punk rock to disco, alternative music to mainstream pop, new wave to industrial techno music. Often times, I provided my music to local nightclubs and often DJ’d at parties and get-togethers. This was music that I believe was heavily influenced by Satan. The lyrics to most of these songs are not worth repeating. Some of which spoke of and glorified violence, sex, drunkenness, drugs, etc. Then one day I came across an intriguing Christian video speaking out about the Satanic influences of music in our pop-culture today. The video spoke about how today’s ungodly music, worms it’s way into our homes, our cars, and ultimately influencing our hearts and minds. There have even been scientific studies proving the fact that music severely influences our psyche and the outcome of our behavior is contingent upon the type of music we choose to listen to. It was shortly after this discovery that I was led to rid myself of this music that I had in my possession. Imagine burning over 200 CD’s!!!
On the other side of this issue, I wish to clarify that there is plenty of godly and praiseworthy music worth mentioning that exists within our society, music from artists whose sole purpose is to honor and glorify God with talent that the Lord has endowed them with. Not all music, secular or not, is inherently evil. Just as Satan has an influence on music, so God has His influence on music as well, and even more so. It has been a historically proven fact that Christ has been the subject of more songs, music, stories, poetry, prose, screenplays, literature, art, etc. than any other subject in the history of mankind.
Christ has been the influencing source behind such famous and talented musical artists as: Michael W. Smith, Don Moen, Chris Tomlin, Twila Paris, Handel, Bach, Pachelbel, John and Charles Wesley, Rich Mullins, and many others, not to mention the many talented worship teams that exist within the Body of Christ. As with anything in life, it is up to our own discretion and spiritual discernment to decide what is and is not appropriate for our listening pleasure. It is also up to us as parents to set standards and to monitor what our kids are listening to. What goes in the body is what comes out through the way in which we live our lives.
He went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him `unclean.’ For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery. – (Mark 7:20-21)
So ask yourself, “Do I know what kind of music I’m listening to?”
Better yet, “Do I know what kind of music my kids are listening to?”

Interesting! I never heard about the idea that the devil was a lead singer. But if you listen to rap or hard rock, you’ll hear his voice in the lyrics! I too was a rock fan when I was young (50’s & 60’s), but when I was converted and returned to the Faith, I gave up listening to that stuff. My favorite music is Gregorian Chant & Sacred Classical Music like Bach, etc.

While I agree on some of what you have to say, as a Berean I have to say that to say that he was the chief of music or that he had musical instruments in his body is ignorant, and is a twisting of scripture. Go back and re-read those scriptures. They say nothing of the sort. As Christians we need to stop twisting scripture. The world already thinks we’re ignorant enough.
As for rock and hip hop having ‘his voice’ in it, that is even more ignorant. So you’re telling me that all the christian rock and heavy metal bands that influenced my salvation contained the voice of satan? Are you serious? That people like LeCrae, T-Bone, John Reuben and Gospel Gangstaz contain the voice of satan just because it’s a style you don’t like? Even though they’re more up in your face evangelistic than all the mealy mouthed contemporary artists who are afraid to say the name of Jesus? Give me a break.
We need to stop giving so much glory to satan. GOD……created music. It is HIS. All of it. And it needs to be reclaimed to His glory, whether you personally like the style or not, and whether or not the style reminds you of your old days at the club. If you can’t be strong enough to hear a song without wanting to go out and tie one on, then maybe it’s time for you to check yourself and your relationship with God, because nothing but nothing should come between you and Him.

I have a rebuttal to your claims, one of which would be stairway to heaven, I know music better than any on earth, I was saved by a monring star, and all my life I encountered only evil in christian establishments, until after enough of it had poisoned my heart I turned wicked at the age of 11.
Stairway to Heaven is one of the most beautiful songs ever created, it is a song of hope, and within it are lessons of a secret and esoteric nature, that is hidden from the minds of men.
what I mean is this, I have heard, the message in stairway to heaven when it was played backwards it is one of the saddest poems I have ever translated.
everyone thinks that it is a message of evil, and therefore makes stairway to heaven a satanic song I have even heard the most wicked of satanist say this.

stairway to heaven played forwards the way it was meant and intended is a true song of man and redemption.
it is only when the song is reversed, and its message twisted and I mean twisted to be the very antithesis of what and how it was written.

And he wasnt the angel of music, he was the angel of light, hence his name Lucifer, which means “bringer of light” in Latin, and his other name where he is referred to as “Morning Star”. Cast out of heaven for hating and not wanting to serve humans by Michael at the end of the war between the angels and fell from grace. Do you even know the angel hierarchy? Lucifer was in no way the strongest. The strongest would either be Michael or more probably Raziel. I dont think that is even Lucifer in that picture, he was never depicted with feathered angel wings and the key would suggest that the angel there is Raziel as he was the angel of secrets and mystery, he was also god’s right hand man and probably helped Adam the most by giving him the book of Raziel. Although the snake halo could either be Raziel’s connection to the teaching of medicine or Lucifer’s deception in the garden of Eden. Please learn your own religion before spouting nonsensical crap. The controversy raged extensively in the late 70s and early 80s when religious fundamentalists claimed that Satan possessed the minds of singers, causing them to insert messages backwards into albums.
Subliminal advertising is a marketing technique which tries to manipulate people’s opinion, without them becoming aware that they are being influenced. It may consist of a movie clip, image, or sound byte that is superimposed on an image, sound track or video track. It is inserted in such a way that the audience cannot detect its presence. It might be a message “Drink Coke” or “Eat Popcorn” flashed on a movie screen so quickly that it cannot be consciously sensed. It may be the word “sex” or an erotic image in ice cubes of a gin advertisement that can only consciously be seen when it is searched for.
Backmasking is a type of subliminal advertising.
Intentional backward masking: A verbal message is recorded, is reversed in direction, and is superimposed on an existing musical passage. This can only be done intentionally — by design. It first appeared in the late 1960s as a result of an accidental tape mixing error by John Lennon in the Beatles’ song “Rain.” He liked it and left it in. In reply to Georgy’s message above, I found that if I record my own voice singing “Stairway to Heaven” on “Voice Recorder” on Windows, I will hear the same “backmasked” words that the original song has. Someone did the same thing on Youtube and proved that the band who made the song did NOT intend to have those lyrics backmasked in their song. I’m glad I found this page – I’ve been studying all of the famous and lesser-known angels, and that includes Lucifer who, for some reason I am intensely interested in (and no, I’m not a Satanist.)

I recently found a page concerning Comtemporary Christian Music and the author claiming ‘TobyMac sings for the devil’ and so condemning CCM of all sorts and genre .. But thinking about it , one wonders how songs that bring salvation to many can be from satan .
It’s quite possible that Lucifer and Satan are two different entities. Translating from language to language can often produce inconsistencies.

All music have sublinal messages because if lucifer truly was a singer then he can sing gospel too. But if they song threw jesus name then they have no authority over them.
Music is entertainment…you can go on for hours, playing shit backwards to see if it is trying to infest a subliminal message into you, trying to lure you into Satan’s scheme but ultimately you are responsible for you own actions, and again, it is entertainment. Album selling is a business, and people who put out albums are technically in the business of selling music to people. It’s parent’s jobs to raise there kids…..why not ask about the evil routes of politicians. I would have to disagree with the comment about “our poor westlife”. For me, Westlife is the epitome of soulless music. For anything to be solless, ie without soul, surely this is against the word of The Lord? Music used as expression, with passion, love, anguish, fear all confessed through music, surely this is what God wants, expression, so that we may communicate to him? If somebody wants to confess their sins through Rap or Rock, then let that be. I do not like music that glorifies doing bad things, but some rap songs, even the likes of EMinem, show remorse for sin. In my eyes, therefore you could agrue that these are more worthy to be God’s music. SOmethign does not need to be directly about God to fall in line with his wishes.

How we choose to live is our choice….ONLY because GOD has given us FREEWILL. HE desires a true, deep, real and personal relationship with US. Just like in any relationship it is a two way street. We share and talk with God and HE talks to us…yes it’s very true. Although, we are often not patient enough to wait and hear what he has to say.
If we are listening and waiting to hear from God then we would know what would be edifying to our lives and we wouldn’t be so confused when we read something like this. We also shouldn’t be so offended and react the way some have all ready.
Music is wonderful to listen to. In my opinion and personal conviction I do not listen to “secular” music. I love all styles…and some more than others…:)There are great and really amazing talented christian musicians out there. My husband is one of them. He has played in a wide variety of styles (hard rock, rap, punk and even contemporary)….but one thing that I admire is that he never used his GOD GIVEN TALENT to play anything BUT music that was meant to glorify JESUS!
I believe that demons and spirits are real and when we listen to music that is made by men and women who do not exemplify a life that is glorifying to our Lord Jesus Christ then their is a 100% chance of a spirit of adultery, alcoholism, lust, pornography etc. to be attached to that music. With that said..why would I welcome that into my life? I doubt that if satan knocked on your front door you would welcome him in.
Music is the same thing. We open doors for him to just walk in and roam our homes and enter the lives of our children and our spouses. It is a personal CHOICE. If you are digging in the Word of God and praying and staying connected with people who will edify your life I don’t think we would desire to listen to anything that wasn’t glorying to God.
I don’t think if you listen to one song that is not “christian” you will go to hell. But, like I mentioned earlier it will undoubtedly change your life by the spirits you welcome in. You may not see but over the course of time your life may not be so reflecting of Christ. Which over the course of time and more listening you will slowly drift away from God ….and then yes, your “ticket” as one person put it, will be gone. The Bible makes it SO VERY clear that the ONLY way to heaven is through JESUS CHRIST and to accept Him as your Lord and Savior.
I am not sorry if I offended any one. I am confident in my relationship with Jesus and I am confident in what I believe. I don’t know any one on this site, but that doesn’t mean you are not on my heart. I will pray for you and your families. Not because I am better or sinless because I am NOT! I will pray because we are commanded to love one another!

Gregory thank you for this interesting topic. I have always been fascinated with angels, so this was very helpful for me.
Now I’m not some “troll” or anything, but I’ll throw my “two cents” about music here. I’m not going to call myself a “headbanger” or “metalhead”, but rock based music has been my prime music choice for pretty much my whole life so far. And I do mainly listen to more metal/extreme/underground music. In all honesty, around the 200 artists I listen too, a small fraction of them are really “satanic” and most of which if you take them seriously, I’m not trying to sound like a jerk, but your a pretty pathetic person if you do. I’m mainly talking about the 80’s artists like Venom/Slayer then the death & black metal artists from the past couple decades. I listen to a good amount of artists from those subgenres, and I’m not trying to be all “cocky” or whatever, but I’m like a “good” person. I never intentionally abused/hurt someone or an animal, caused trouble for my family, I know how to be a good friend/family member, and I care about people. Some of the music I listen too is just straight up morbid, violent, nihilistic themed lyrics, and I’m nothing like that at all. I’m not trying to be a jerk or anything but I would like to know where you got that “scientific studies” about how you pretty much are what you listen too. Which I think is pretty far-fetched, since I know, and I mean I know, a few people who live and breath country music, which alot of it is christian, family and life themed, but these individuals I know are the opposite of “their” music. They cheat on their girlfriend/wife, their selfish, and their pretty much racsist. Like I said I listen to some very dark music, though I listen to the “music” I could care less about the vocals and lyrics.
I can honestly see why music is affilated with the devil now, but like I said your pathetic if you take the death & black metal bands seriously, what I mean by that is like the people who live that way like that kind of music they listen too. The whole satanic imagery is just total BS. Like the idea of satan having horns, goat legs, being red, stuff like that. Tell me if I’m wrong but none of that is in the bible. I always thought (well not when I was a kid/little, mainly my teen years and later) Satan looked like that angel pictured above. Just during the medieval ages artists created the image of Satan at the time what they thought of what look “evil”. And we still use that image today.
Honestly music is one of the least dangerous things of this world, pretty much the real threat is the Media. The Media pretty much alway blows things out of proprotions and no news channel says the same thing about a topic, it all gets mixed around and people believe what the idiot box (tv) tells them.
I dont think I mentioned this but I’m not a Christian, though I wont ever say I wont become one, but I’m not one at the moment and maybe for awhile. But I don’t bash people’s religion, like faith is a wonderful thing, just beliefs/belief systems is what causes trouble.

I am a child of GOD and no other god. All your information is incorrect. Why would you even play music backwards or read it backwards?! It is like you are trying to find the devil in everything. You keep looking for him and he will definitely come to you in more ways that you would like. Please, for your soul’s sake don’t play with the gospel, GOD is nothing to play with.
