Prayer of The Depressed

Prayer of The Depressed

O glorious St. Michael, the Archangel, leader of the angels who stood against Lucifer and his devils, I stand before you with a broken heart, weighed down by problems which I cannot understand nor solve.

Your sword was instrumental in the defeat of Satan, the prince of darkness. I beseech you — help me withstand this darkness that engulfs me and my life. Protect me from negative thoughts and lift my spirit whenever I feel that everything will go wrong. Lead me to a total trust and confidence in God.

As you surrender your will to Him, give me the same courage to follow you. Let me savor how it is to live in the light of God who gives meaning to everything  that happens to us. Guide me to understand the CROSS of JESUS so that my sorrow will be my salvation.

Let me see the hand of God in all events of my life so that I may always hope that something good will come out from the bad things that happened to me.

Accompany me, St. Michael, in this difficult journey to find new meaning and purpose to my life. Light your sword in this darkness so that I may see Jesus and His Mother, Mary. Someday, may we see each other in the bliss of heaven, where all tears will be wiped away. Amen.

Servant of God

Servant of God

“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.” – (Matthew 12:18)

Listen to the words quoted from the prophecy of Isaiah 42 and  hear them ring in echoes of what God said about Jesus’ at his baptism and transfiguration: your are my Son, whom I love, with him I am well pleased, others need to listen to you. Jesus doesn’t stop ministering under this intense scrutiny and opposition. Instead, he takes his closest followers and teaches them his will, and then targets his miracles of healing with blessing folks because they need to be blessed.

Jesus comes as God’s representative — Immanuel, God with us. The collision is inevitable. You can’t have God’s Messiah, the Son of God, so tender that he “does not breaking a bruised reed” and also have the personal power to face down with the religious power brokers. The reality, however, this is exactly what Jesus will do. He will demonstrate the God-approved truth about faith and he will force the hands of all who are charlatans.

Jesus has the approval of God. He has the leading of the Holy Spirit. He has the needs of the broken on his heart, and he has the nations as his goal. Through kindness, compassion, integrity, and passion, Jesus will accomplish only Immanuel could do.

Prayer : O Father, we live in fear about half the time. We fear aging and illness. We fear the crazy swings in the economy. We fear the growing legal opposition to practicing faith in the market place. We fear that almost no one is going to be standing when the ministry meets the enemy. Except everyone forgets one crucial thing: God is at work here. Jesus is filled with the Holy Spirit here. God approves and finds delight in this ministry. So, Father in heaven, we ask for you to show yourself as holy, embracing and empowering you people, and leading us to more fully reflect your chosen servant and live his life in our world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Abba Father

Abba Father

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” – (Romans 8:15)

Abba! The first syllables most babies utter. The name for Father in the language Jesus grew up speaking. Abba is a term of endearment, dependency, intimacy, tenderness, and respect.

Because of the Holy Spirit’s presence within us, we call out to God and address him in this precious, intimate, and dependent way: Abba Father. The Creator of the universe, the God who dwells in eternity, the God who became flesh in Jesus, and the God who had the power to conquer death, sin, and the evil one, invites us to call him our Abba Father!

Such overwhelming grace … such indescribable mercy … such intimate relationship with God is ours because of the Holy Spirit’s presence within us.

Prayer : O Abba Father, thank you for being my loving heavenly Father and welcoming me to you as your precious child! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
