Bible Slideshow : Walk Through the Bible
God selected certain men called prophets to write down His words.
He chose 40 different men who wrote different parts of the Bible.
The time between the first prophet’s writing and the last prophet’s writing was about 1600 years (1500 BC – 100 AD).
All but one of these men were Hebrews, and they wrote down God’s words in their own languages -Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
Even though it was written by 40 different men, the Bible is consistent.
2 Timothy 3:16 – “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Peter 1:21 – “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
The Bible is a big book containing 66 smaller books, with 2 major divisions
The Old Testament – 39 books
The New Testament – 27 books
The Bible is like a library of books rather than a single novel.
There are different types of writing in the Bible; for instance, poetry, history, and letter. The style of the book makes a difference in the way you read the book.
