Jesus, being perfect in all aspects, bridged the gap between God and man, by becoming the only God-Man – completely divine, yet completely human at the same time. He is the King of kings, yet also the servant of us all. He is our savior and redeemer, one that understands our weaknesses and infirmities.
There had to be a way to bridge the gap, to SAVE mankind from eternal separation from God. Jesus Christ is that bridge.
When I was a child, I lived in what was known locally as “the forks of the river”. In order to go into town, we had to travel a dirt road and cross the river over an iron bridge. As progress came, the road was eventually paved and a concrete bridge built, replacing the outdated iron bridge. Now, in the twenty-first century, another bridge has been built beside the first one, and there are now four lanes of traffic crossing the river at this point.
I am often reminded of our need for bridges to connect us with other areas. Unless these bridges have strong foundations, they will not support the traffic that passes over them. In the same way, we need to build our lives on the foundation of Christ, that we may be strong enough to support the loads we are asked to carry and to stay connected with the source.
John 14:6 – Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Just as there was no way for me as a child to get out of my “forks in the river” except to cross the iron bridge, there is no way for us today to find eternal life except through Jesus Christ. He is our only link to eternity.
Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the bridge to everlasting life!
Prayer: Lord, help us to understand that there are no other roads leading to eternal life except the one You created. Amen.
I agree Jesus is the bridge to get out of sin where we are stuck in and some how can’t get out, but we need to understand this in order to go on.
thank you georgy for all the articles really enjoy reading them. God bless!
I understand that there is a scripture in Isaiah that refers to Christ as “the bridge”, but do not recall where it is. Will you refresh my memory please?
I am a biker chaplain serving bikers as well as the homeless community and am designing art work to have airbrushed onto my bike. The theme is the gospel starting on one side with sin in the garden, ending on the other side with man walking hand in hand with God in Heaven. In between, on the back, there is not much space, but I want to show Christ as a bridge across the valley of death. Possibly using the Isaiah scripture address in an arch over a fire or a scull.
Your advice will be appreciated.
This is true Jesus is real the bridge i like the way you have exprened its woaderfull God bless you Pastor Hans
Yes he is a bridge but even better, see how he referred to himself not as a bridge, which has depth, but a door or gate. This is because we are separated, but but not distant from the Father. Sin is better pictured as a wall than a chasm.
