This is a story about a little girl who, on the way home from church, turned to her mother and said, “Mommy, the Preacher’s sermon this morning confused me.”
The mother said, “Oh! Why is that?
The girl replied, “Well, he said that God is bigger than we are. Is that true?”
“Yes, that’s true,” the mother replied.
“He also said that God lives within us. Is that true too?”
Again the mother replied, “Yes.”
“Well,” said the girl. “If God is bigger than us and He lives in us, wouldn’t He show through?”
Read this again………Think…..
Please explain its meaning
can someone explain this story…does it mean we are actually shown out to be as God…please help me understand!!
The meaning gets clear upon reading it second time.
If am not wrong the feeling will be of self examination – whether my life is of a God’s Child? Am I living according to His will always?
Based on my own understanding, I think that God is already with us but we just failed to see it =) We just need to think it through and for that, we’ll find out that God is with us ALWAYS. Thus, we can say to our small problems that we have a Big God with us.
After reading it again and seeing the comment by Love..i too feel..that the story is asking us to do good and be good..and God lives within us..and it may also mean that we need to live up to God’s purpose..but still the meaning of the story seems to be so incomplete..i guess the person who wrote this should explain..
If God lives in us, people will see the God in us. In other words they will see the fruits which God produced in us i.e. love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and self-control
Understood by reading 1st time only :-) Very touching…
Dear Nik, could you please explain???
Hi Reena,
Just imagine a 1 litre container which has more milk than 1 litre (like 2 litres or 10 litres) You can see that the milk is filledup and is coming out of container because the container is too small.
In the same way, our god is very bigger than us. His love, his peace, his qualities etc., doesn’t fit in us, so, his qualities must have come out of us to show them to other people around us.
Are you filled with God ? If yes, his qualities will come out and will be seen by other people around you.
I hope you understood now :-)
What it means is that others should be able to see God in us (and in all that we do) since God is big cannot just sit inside doing nothing. He works through us.
Let’s ask ourselves: Do I allow Him to work through me? Or do I do what I want and not what He does?
