Why do Catholics pray to Mother Mary? Is Rosary really powerful?
The intercession of Mother Mary is very powerful as Jesus cannot neglect His mothers commands.This can be proved by the first miracle Jesus did at the wedding at Cana. – (John 2:1-11). Mother Mary told Jesus “They have no more wine.” And what was the final result? He turned water into wine.
In “The Poem of the Man-God” by Maria Valtorta, she says that Jesus told her about this incident as “I did it for Mary”. This proves that the intercession of Mother Mary is very very strong.
Mother Mary was blessed with Holy Spirit abundantly. We can see this as we read “At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Luke 1:39-41) ; just by Virgin Mary’s greeting.

What the angels thought on this matter:-
When angel appeared before Zechariah,father of John, angel just greets him by his name ,nothing more although he was “upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commandments and regulations blamelessly.” – (Luke 1:6)
When angel appeared before Joseph, the greeting was like this: “an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” – (Matthew 1:20). Angel greeted him ‘son of david’, thats all.
Now let us see how did the angel greet Virgin Mary. It goes like this: “The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” (Luke 1:28). See the difference….

No one can judge others (Many in here said that Catholics are all going to hell, because of acknowledging and asking Mama Mary’s help? oh c’mon, isn’t it judging? I, for one, didn’t made God less by praying the Rosary, I made him so POWERFUL instead, ‘coz in the rosary the life of Christ is being said.. the LIFE,DEATH and RESURRECTION of JESUS..the gift of SALVATION..HIS DIVINE INTERVENTION TO HUMAN like Mary. How can anyone say that praying the Rosary is the work of Satan? When I pray it to glorify on how God saved the world..? Arguing and anger is a work of Satan.. so let’s stop this ‘coz we are all CHRISTIANS.. No one here wants someone fall to anger. :)
God made all things happen under the sun not for us to accuse each other, but to see that above all this, GOD WILL SAVE THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN HIM IN THE NAME OF JESUS,it is by grace,.

Are you God? How can you say that God is working only with you? When I pray the rosary, how can anyone say that God is not working with me in that time? Are you me?
I just acknowledge and thank Mary for accepting the will of the Father in the fulfillment of God’s Word. It is the truth, Mary is not the same with us as people often think. Imagine? God chose her among many and she said directly YES. If it were me, i could doubt myself if I could do it. Are you jealous to Mary? a human highly favored by God? Why would you stop me from acknowledging her?
And lastly, when I pray the rosary, it is not for Mama Mary alone, but it is FOR GOD’S GLORY..THE FULFILLMENT OF HIS WORD. The most important thing is I PUT GOD FIRST..:D..I love you all who loves Jesus..

Martin Luther was not a baby when he broke off, He was a Catholic Priest, and he wasn’t illiterate to the consequences of his so called reforms, He knew what was going to happen and he knew that God doesn’t want us to break up….
Then why should he break off…. why not doing the so called reform inside the church itself like so many others who have succeeded in doing so. Not only Martin Luther, all those who broke out. If you really value each soul on earth you wouldn’t have done it.

Did you read my #1002 about the order of resurrection? I doubt. Open your Bible and read. There is no special resurrection path only for Mary. You know I love and respect Mary, my daughter name also Mary. But Mary is not God. The dead cannot help us and we cannot help them. Apostles never said Novena and rosary in the name of Mary. Jesus said pray to father in my ( Jesus )name.NOT Mary’s name. You ask anything in my name you will get.NOT in Mary’s name. As per bible all dead are waiting for Jesus’s coming, including Mary.
Bible tells, God the Father, is not the Lord of the Dead but the Lord of the Living… God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob… And Mary is up there because she is worthy by virtue of her carrying & caring Him all through His life, She is Holy… She is the Mother of God and has a special position above all Prophets and Saints in Heaven.

Jesus Himself told, Our God the Father is not the God of dead but the God of the Living. When you address Him as God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob. They are Living up there with Him and in Him.
In the parable of Rich man and Lazarus, Jesus tells us that Lazarus was laid on Abraham’s lap up there is heaven, and there is a conversation between the rich man and Abraham.
There are people whom God chose (by virtue of there deeds) to live with Him in Heaven even now. We sinners are the ones to wait until Him coming, not Abraham, not Isaac, not Jacob, not Moses, not Elijah, not John the Baptist, not Mother Mary. They are worthy to be in His presence. do you get it through the thick skull of yours.

Why would I pray to Mary, yes she was a great person who was blessed to be Jesus’s mother but thats it she was just a mortal woman. Jesus says no one can get to the father but through him, not through my mother mary.
It is sad that all of you who have read the Word of God and think that you know the right way to God would only use that knowledge to belittle and insult Catholics and their faith. It is sad, too, that you know so little about what we Catholics believe and you easily judge us based on your ignorance of our faith and your condescention to know only one way to the same God. I do not know as much as you do, but my God provides me with a lot of ways to find Him and ask for His Mercy. My God sent His Son, also a God, to save me and not just mediate for me to Him. He also guided Mary and all the enlightened ones to help me understand how I can talk to Him and ask for His help. And I know, for all my sins and shortcomings, He still loves and will accept me for who I am.

Clay I need to answer your question, and perhaps open the eyes of all protestants( I was once a methodist )as to why catholics pray to the Virgin Mary and the saints.
Before Jesus came, all prayers were taken to God’s Temple by the 7 archangels. They are the only ones who are allowed in to God’s presence.
They read the prayers to God.
The reason why protestants do not know about this is that the creators of the Protestant Bible decided not to include the Book of Tobit – among many other books – which is in the original bible used by Catholics and Orthodox.
In Tobit, the archangel Raphael,was sent by God to help Tobias, Tobit’s son. At the end of the book, Raphael told Tobias to write down everything that he told him. Raphael explained that He had read Tobias’s prayers to God.
Every prayer was taken by the 7 archangels – intercessors – to God.
God did not hear prayers directly. It was read to Him by the intercessors.
After Jesus came, there was no longer any need for intercessors because Jesus, the Son – the Ultimate Intercessor – was sitting at the Right Hand of the Father. He still has to show the prayers to the Father.
This does not mean that intercessors are extinct – far from it. It just means, we can pray directly to God through His Son – Jesus. The 7 original intercessors are still there, they are joined by the Queen of Heaven, Our Holy Mother, and the ‘pure in heart’- the saints.
So to all my protestant brothers, blame those who abridged the Original Bible for your ingnorance of the concept of intercession.
The question you have to ask yourselves: why did they remove these books ?

You need a history lesson so I shall give you one. The scripture list that was originally agreed contained 2 kinds of books Canonical and Deuterocanonical. The first set are considered suitable for doctrine etc and the second are considered useful for reading but were not considered suitable for basing a doctrine upon. This distinction is why we have a canon at all, since the RCC rejects many books accepted by at least one other group.
Now consider this tiny point, you say that until Christ there were 7 Arch angels who read the prayers to God. But Moses did not present his prayers to an Archangel but went directly in to the Holy of Holies and the presence of God. In the NT we are told to do the same “go boldly before the throne of grace” and we are not told to pray to Jesus but to pray to God. Just as Adam, Moses and Abraham did we talk to God.
Now as to what books should be regarded as scripture well which books were originally called scripture by the earliest Christians?
The NT was as it is now pretty much and the NT was as we Protestants have it :-)
Athanasius wrote this regarding the books you think we removed and the ones we kept.
“These are the springs of salvation, in order that he who is thirsty may fully refresh himself with the words contained in them. In them alone is the doctrine of piety proclaimed. Let no one add anything to them or take anything away from them.”
He added
“But for the sake of greater accuracy I add, being constrained to write, that there are also other books besides these, which have not indeed been put in the canon, but have been appointed by the Fathers as reading-matter for those who have just come forward and which to be instructed in the doctrine of piety: the Wisdom of Solomon, the Wisdom of Sirach, Esther, Judith, Tobias, the so-called Teaching [Didache] of the Apostles, and the Shepherd.” He wrote that in 367 AD.
So our canon is older than yours, more in line with the earliest Christians than yours and therefore better than yours.
The reason we removed the not so good books that were not in the canon is because there was confusion, caused by ignorance in the RCC, about what was and what wasn’t canonical.
We put the others in a section of their own.
So you can believe the fairy stories of the RCC, or you can believe the testimony of the early Christians and Fathers.

Hi, seeing these comments, I was first and foremost taken aback, cuz I personally faced a great challenge just cuz I am a Catholic! Taking into account of whats up with the world, are these discussions among Christians rele weele needed??!!
There are enuf lectures given up here, so I aint here to give yet another one! But, if there is soooooo much misunderstanding between “CHRISTIANS” or a single family, how can you individually represent Christ to the world?? I understand everyone here are aware of who Jesus Christ is and what The Bible is! But why aint anyone concerned bout thousands of people out there in the world who dont even know who Jesus Christ is and what The Bible is, actually!!
If children in Christ are gonna have this much difference of opinion, then what example do we set for others who are yet to know Christ????????!!!!!!!!!
I aint perfect to enter into this discussion, but are we all not imperfect in the eyes of God? Then why do we try to make our argument sound correct?
There are certain things that dont work universally. To some, their beliefs are the exact truth, to some it may sound absurd! Fine, we are not here to prove ourselves right! No one can say that they are too pure to utter the word Sin & Sinner, in fact I am a sinner too. We all gotta ask for Mercy to God and try to live, the good way, to our level best! Only in that way can we set a good example to people who are yet to know Christ, after all, “Our walk talks louder than our talk talks”, right?

Mary was a vessel. She was chosen to bear Christ Jesus. Did Mary ask anyone to pray to her so she could intercede with Jesus? No, she didn’t.

There is no separate 10 commandments for the Catholics, may be its you people who cook up your own. The Bible is the same from the begining, Mary is has you said a Vessel who bored the Son of God. What more do you want to honer Her. She is the new eve, the Ark of the New Covnent. When the Iseralies incensed the Ark of the Lord. what did they incense, was it the Gold that lined them, or the wood that holded them. it was the Word that they worshiped. Similarly we Catholic Christians honer Mother Mary for the Flesh that She bored, “The Son of God”. and it goes hand in hand with the Bible. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Redeemer, my Light, my Salvation and Savior and I do not see anything wrong in respecting Mary as His mother.
My son received his first communion last week and was told to remember the 10 commandments as his main guide to his salvation and not 9 commandments only.
I have other friends who are not Catholics and I’ve even joined some of their activities and I don’t see anything wrong with it. I respect their beliefs and respect mine.
We Keep debating on who is right or wrong… is not a pleasing thing to see in the eyes of God. I’m not that knowledgeable with what is written in the Bible as others do but I believe that God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit wanted us to have peace and unity, love and respect. I have my faith in God and I continue to pray to Him for the wisdom and enlightenment for me to discern the things that surrounds me.
I think it is safe to say that we are all believers of Christ, Who died for our sins. And if others don’t see it right that we ask Mary to intercede for us…please pray for us that we will see the truth in what you are trying to convey us….and we will also pray for you.

We people are the people that follow the word of God in the Bible. I don’t have a separate book, like the Catholics do. The Catholics have a separate ten commandments.
The Bible’s 2nd commandment is about idol worship and worshiping other gods:

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my Commandments.
The Catholics do not have this commandment. They have deleted it.
The 10th commandment in the bible is about coveting:
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
The Catholics split this commandment to get their 9th and 10th.

The Bible’s 1st commandment says “no other gods.” The Catholic’s 1st commandment says “no strange gods.” Do Catholics rationalize this and say, “Mary’s no stranger so we can pray to her?”
The Bible is very clear, “thou shall not bow down to them or pray to them.” Catholics do both and you need to stop.

I don’t see anything wrong in respecting Mary as His mother either. However, I do have a problem with idol worship and praying to her, bowing down to her. I may bow down and pray and I may have a cross in my hand or there may be one in the church, but I don’t pray to the cross nor bow down to the cross. I bow down to Jesus and pray ONLY to Him. Jesus is Lord.

These are the commandments that we Catholics Follow. And this is in The only and True Bible. We don’t Worship Mother Mary or any Saints for that matter. You ppl don’t know that because, you ppl don’t have a definite form of worship…. do you?

Coming to the mass:- breaking of the Word and the breaking of the Bread.
As per the RCC’s transubstantiation trick the bread becomes real christ and wine becomes real blood of Jesus. In my 40 years I never seen this magic in my RC church!
Do you know Jesus done the same magic once in Cana, There the water becomes wine and water tastes like wine but in catholic mass the wine remain wine only, not changing to blood!
Also when Jesus break the bread , nothing happened in his body! So do you think there were 2 Jesus was there in the last supper.When he was dying no one took a cup and collected his blood for drinking!
DO you know in Bible drinking bllod is prohibited.

just count the commandments, u will get only nine…. go ahead. and the reason for splitting the last one is coveting your neighbor wife and goods. there is a very important thing you ppl have forgot. the Sacrament of Matrimony in which they are no more two in flesh and spirit but one. so due important is given to a wife. and to emphasis on it only it was put separately and that makes 10 commandments. wife is a distinct entity in every man’s life and should be looked after with due care. you cannot just put the woman with other things like your cattle and goods.

Purgatory was, is and never will be a place… it is to clarify this, the Pope proclaimed it. purgatory is a state. all the Priests knew this. and in-fact alot of Catholics including me knew this. it is a state in which the souls that are worthy to enter the Kingdom of God but still not clean of the worldly strain are … through consent prayer and intercession we can help our loved ones to attain Paradise.
when Christ gave authority to the disciples to drive away evil spirits and to forgive sins. He instituted the Priesthood of the eternal covenant and He Himself was ,is and forever the High Priest and the Sacrificial Lamb. and to continue His Pastoral Mission on earth He chose His apostles. and there were the first priests of the New covenant.

Saturday has in the OT is the Sabbath, but Since Christ rose on a Sunday, the Holy Spirit decent on the apostles and Mother Mary was on a Sunday, the Church to which Christ gave authority to bind and to loose things on earth brought the blessings of the Saturday to the Sunday. and it is purely through Divine intervention.

Why would you pray to Mary? I mean yes, she gave birth to our Saviour. But in the bible Jesus clearly stated “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” -John 14:6 Shouldn’t that mean that there is no need to pray to anyone but Him, because through Him ONLY it is determined that you will get into Heaven or not.

So, you suck at simple addition. I count 10. Catholics count 9 because they omit the 2nd about idol worship, so they have to split the 10th (Catholics 9), to get 10. Otherwise, it would be the 9 Commandments and you guys would be even more on the radar. The 10th is about coveting. The topic is coveting, not emphasis on wives vs cattle. That’s absurd.

I don’t call anything Christian, magic. Nobody, including the disciples, physically ate Jesus’ flesh or drank his blood.
John 6:47-48 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life.” Jesus was speaking about salvation.
He is also the Door, the Vine, and the Water of life…so why make the fatal mistake of thinking that Jesus is a loaf of bread? If it’s literal, as Catholics say it is, how do we walk through a physical Jesus door?
This is about salvation, His bodily sacrifice and His blood shed for our sins. Eating of His flesh and drinking of His blood, is by having faith in Him, as our Lord and Savior, as He is the way, the truth and the life.

Take you RCC manual and see what is written over there. Is it God’s ten commandments OR God’s 9 commandments?
If you have one see #1858,1962,1980,below 2051,2052,2054 and many more. In those places its written ten commandments NOT 9
