I asked for…, and God gave me…

I asked for, and God gave me

I asked for strength,
And God gave me difficulties to make me strong;

I asked for wisdom,
And God gave me problems to learn to solve;

I asked for prosperity,
And God gave me brain and brawn to work;

I asked for courage,
And God gave me dangers to overcome;

I asked for love,
And God gave me people to help;

I asked for favors,
And God gave me opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted – I received everything I needed.
My prayer has been answered!

  1. Amen! What we want and ask for may not and often times is not what God wants for us. HE KNOWS what is best for us. HE KNOWS exactly what we need. AMEN! AWESOME! And so very, very true!

  2. yes, every strugler and besically school children must be taught through poem’s success path of by thier elders, teachers,parents and also the society for ideal citizen.

  3. This is actually a really toxic mentality. You’re taking hardship without question because you think God gave it to you to get you what you wanted. You deserve to be happy!

  4. No Buzzkill. It’s choosing to be happy with hardship. The belief that the hardship you receive is designed to build your character and capability. If you don’t embrace what you have before you then you won’t ever be happy, as hardship shall come regardless.

  5. No, Buzzkill, it’s not toxic mentality. Jesus warned us we would have tribulation, but assured us He has overcome the world. All things work together for good to them who love God and are the called according to His purpose. We are all evil at heart, and none of us “deserve” to be happy. We have a gift from Christ, the Holy Spirit, who makes it possible to experience joy even during trials. It takes faith, and God gives us that, too!

  6. “Consider the work of God: who can straighten what He has made crooked? In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well s the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him” [that is, come after him]. Ecclesiastes 7:13,14 The more I know, the more I realize I don’t know…..
