Letters to God – Movie and Soundtracks

Letters to God

A heartfelt tale of inspiration, hope and redemption, Letters to God is the story of what happens when one boy’s walk of faith crosses paths with one man’s search for meaning—the resulting transformational journey touches the lives of everyone around them. The movie will be released on 9th April 2010 worldwide.  The soundtrack to Letters to God compliments the film’s inspirational and uplifting message.

Tyler Doherty (TANNER MAGUIRE) is an extraordinary eight-year-old boy.  Surrounded by a loving family and community, and armed with the courage of his faith, he faces his daily battle against cancer with bravery and grace.  To Tyler, God is a friend, a teacher and the ultimate pen pal—Tyler’s prayers take the form of letters, which he composes and mails on a daily basis.

The letters find their way into the hands of Brady McDaniels (JEFFREY S.S. JOHNSON), a beleaguered postman standing at a crossroads in his life.  At first, he is confused and conflicted over what to do with the letters.  Overtime he begins to form a friendship with the Doherty family – getting to know not just Tyler but his tough, tender yet overwhelmed mom (ROBYN LIVELY), stalwart grandmother (MAREE CHATHAM) and teen brother Ben (MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER BOLTEN) — who are each trying to stand strong against the doubts that come with the chaotic turn their lives have taken.

Moved by Tyler’s courage, Brady realizes what he must do with the letters, a surprise decision that will transform his heart and uplift his newfound friends and community –in an exhilarating act of testament to the contagious effect of one boy’s unwavering faith against the odds.

Inspired by a true story, Letters to God is an intimate, moving and often funny story about the galvanizing effect one child’s belief can have on his family, friends and community.

  2. This movie is getting great press — I’m looking forward to seeing it. “Act as If”is another gerat inspirational movie. It’s a shorter sports documentary film by Melissa Johnson, who wrote, directed and produced the movie about her college basketball coach (at Harvard), Kathy Delaney-Smith. She uses the “Act as If” philosophy not only with her players, but also in life. Johnson says you don’t need to care about sports to benefit from the coach’s philosophy. You act as if you’ve won, you’ve overcome, you’ve beat the obstacle. I love that thinking! (And the coach used it personally, when she battled cancer. She used it to deal with treatments and she never missed a practice or a game. Very inspirational.)

  3. this movie is great. it can be blessing for everyone who watch it, include me. I just wanna say, whatever our condition, we have to stay trust God that His will on us is wonderful. Maybe we don’t get cancer, but all problems could be like a cancer, but Jesus said that He will never leave us, i trust it. He’s good, He’s all in all. Be strong! Cause He cares about us. Amen……

  4. This was the best movie i have ever seen, it was very sad, but its quite amazing how a child in his situation could still be looking to God the way Tyler did. I cried during almost the whole movie, it was so moving to me how he focused on God the entire time…He really made me think about my life and how i deal with things..He is an inspiring little boy!

  6. The movie hits close to home.wife has Cancer too. WAY too close. cant even cope some days.. this helped.. its hard being the the other person too. its like your alone sometimes… and yet have to do everything and watch them suffer and feel bad and then still deal with your own sadness, fear and wonder if you can do it all and be strong…

Today!I tasted something bitter which the world offerred me,it injured me to the point that I felt the ground should open up and consume me from the face of this earth.I just want to say that God does not sleep nor slumber,He knows everything we go through,He hears our prayers………..and most of all!,He is not ready to let go because He is not through with you!……….. 14. I’ve been feeling something has been missing in my life. I grew up in church and unfortunately as I got older I strayed from the One who really loved me. Recently I’ve been praying and just felt like God couldn’t hear me. I sat down tonight and felt God had a message for me. By the end of the movie as sad as it was, my hope and my spirit were soaring. I was crying like a baby, because God showed me hope, faith and most of all how much God loves me. Thank you for making such an inspiring movie. God is love and I feel it. My heart is healed.
