Today, we celebrate the one month anniversary of the Jesus Youth jubilee conference 2010 held at Rajagiri College, Cochin, India from 28th Dec to 1st Jan. We know its late, but we are sharing some pictures from our collection of JY Jubilee pictures.
The JY jubilee was an awesome experience. A short summary of the conference is here.
An aura of festivity and immense joy hung over the entire Rajagiri Campus as finally the day of the JY JUBILEE CONFERENCE dawned! The biggest to the tiniest details were being prayed about and meticulously planned. Volunteers could be seen running around making last minute arrangements. Participants from different countries sauntered around in their traditional attires. And all were headed in one direction. After long hours of prayer, months of preparations, the biggest celebration is on – the Jesus Youth Jubilee Conference!
Morning went and evening came, second day! After inspiring sessions in their respective streams, the crowd gathered together at the main venue for an evening of celebrations. ‘Acts of the Apostles’, the worship band from Jesus Youth Delhi, entered the stage and enthralled the audience with their peppy numbers. Later, the young dancers from Cambodia and Jharkhand mesmerized the crowd through their traditional dance forms.
Messages then shared by various bishops gave the crowd a strong sense of motivation. Most Rev. Francis Kallarackal, Archbishop of Verapoly, equated the Conference to a new Pentecost and asked everyone to be thankful for the graces received and to look forward with hope. Most Rev. Gerald Almeida, Bishop of Jabalpur, emphasised that we need to transform ourselves to lead a happy family life.
n unwavering enthusiasm was felt among the crowd as the third day brought with it stream-wise sessions, self organised gatherings and communal celebrations. Covenant Singers from UAE enthralled the audience with an amazing performance of talent, through a musical feast followed by an audiovisual presentation on overcoming sin. The festival then moved onto East India and then further to East Asia, with mesmerizing performances from Chhattisgarh and Thailandrespectively.
In his Jubilee message, Most Rev. Paul Hinder, Vicar Apostolic of Arabia, mentioned that Jesus Youth is his dream forArabia. “Be just not conscious, but be obedient to what your heart saysâ€, said Most Rev. Moses Costa, Bishop of Dinajpur,Bangladesh. The Bishop of Shimla-Chandigarh, Most Rev. Ignatius Loyola Mascarenhas, then energized the congregation with a loving hug and a message on the importance of youth in today’s Church. The evening was also graced by the presence of Most Rev. Andrews Thazhathu, Archbishop of Thrissur.
The new year celebrations on the last day were really rocking! We all entered 2011 with the Holy Mass at 3am on Jan1st. Then all JYs departed, refined, renewed and radiant in the spirit this jubilee conference gave us.
