Children International Sponsorship Program

We children need your help

There are thousands of very poor children who are waiting for someone to give them a hand up.someone like you.

Sponsorship changes children’s lives.and might even change yours too.

Since 1936, Children International has worked tirelessly to ease the burdens poverty places upon poor children. Today, our most urgent effort is to fight poverty by connecting sponsors with children around the world.

Right now, impoverished children all over the world suffer in silence. Born into poverty, often to parents struggling to survive on just pennies a day, these poor children often live without access to medical care, a good education, adequate housing, decent clothing or a chance for a better future.

But there is hope – if you sponsor one of these poor children through Children International.

The Children International® Sponsorship Program is helping impoverished children by providing meaningful benefits and services that help them grow up confident, healthy and educated.
Through our affordable, monthly giving program, sponsored children receive the right help at the right time, including:

* Health care and medicine
* Dental care
* Malnutrition screenings and nutritional support
* Sturdy clothing and shoes
* School supplies and improved access to education
* Encouragement and hope

Sponsors get much in return. Regular letters and photos from sponsored children help them see how their donations change lives. And sponsorship gives sponsors a tremendous sense of satisfaction and a feeling of accomplishment…all through helping a needy child have a better life.

You can sponsor a child today and assist us in reaching a common goal: making the world a better place by helping impoverished children grow into responsible, healthy, educated and self-reliant adults.

Children International is a nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to bettering the lives of impoverished children, their families and communities. We achieve our goals primarily through child sponsorship, which unites children in need with individual sponsors who wish to address the children’s immediate and basic needs. Sponsorship gives poor children the tools and opportunities necessary for success by providing benefits and supporting programs for each child – primarily in the areas of education and health. Our sponsorship program currently benefits more than 300,000 impoverished children and their families in 11 countries throughout the world, including Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Mexico, the Philippines, the United States and Zambia.

We enjoy hearing from our contributors and friends. Our goal is to provide you with prompt, courteous service.

We get a lot of emails asking who we are, so here it is: We’re twentysomething Christians. We want to break stereotypes, challenge status-quo and enact change through the media. We’re seeking God, living life and striving to impact the world around us. It’s pretty simple, really. Oh yeah, and we’re a self-contained, for-profit business not affiliated with any other companies, denominations or organizations. OUR PURPOSE:
Relevant Media Group is a multimedia company whose purpose is to impact culture and show that a relationship with God is relevant and essential to a fulfilled life.What We Believe

RELEVANT is a multimedia company looking to impact culture with the message that even though religion may be seen as irrelevant, a personal relationship with God is a relevant — and vital — aspect of a fulfilled life. We want to engage people in a conversation about faith. We want to challenge worldviews and cause people to see God outside the box they’ve put Him in.

We believe that God is alive and well and moving outside the four walls of the church (sometimes moreso than in it). That’s why we cover life issues and entertainment — to look at the things impacting our lives and culture. We believe a lot can be learned by looking more deeply at things that challenge you.

But we also believe in the importance of the Church and want to stop the mass exodus of our generation leaving it. We want to enact change from within (which is one of the reasons we started the RELEVANT Network).

Christians can’t be complacent living in a Christian bubble and never engaging the world they live in. We want to live the way Jesus did, hanging out with the very people religious leaders turned up their nose at. Through relationship, love and understanding the world was changed. We don’t believe in legalism and bigotry. We believe in dialogue — about Truth, about faith, about freedom in Christ.

Whether 20 years into it or just starting out, if you’re at this website you’re probably on a spiritual journey. Christianity is not a destination. No one has it all figured out. And because of that you’ll find that the articles in RELEVANT probably ask more questions than give answers, which is something we feel is vital to our spiritual growth. We need to never stop pursuing Truth and authenticity with passion.

But we do believe. We believe that eternal life and the only true freedom is found in Christ. We believe that a relationship with Him changes things forever. You are not the person you used to be after you find Him. You may not be perfect — we’re all sinners, after all — but you don’t live life the way you used to. Jesus told us to be in the world, yet not of it. We’re supposed to stand out and make a difference. We’re supposed to live for something bigger than ourselves.

Like we said, that’s not something we can magically attain overnight. Following Christ and figuring out what it means to be like Him is a life-long quest. It’s the hardest, longest and most rewarding thing we will ever undertake. It is what will define us — not only in this life, but the life to come.

For more information about Christianity, we recommend checking out the Bible (it is the source, after all) and finding a good local church where you can meet other people like you. Luckily, we have a directory of good ones right here. For all of you who want more theology about the Christian faith, here goes. We borrowed this from a church we like:

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the written Word of God. It leads us to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Being given by God the Scriptures are both fully and verbally inspired by God. Therefore, as originally given, the Bible is free of error in all it teaches. Each book is to be interpreted according to its context and purpose. All believers are exhorted to study the Scriptures and diligently apply them to their lives. The Scriptures are the authoritative and normative rule and guide of all Christian life, practice, and doctrine.

God Is Triune
There is one God: infinite, eternal, almighty, and perfect in holiness, truth, and love. In the unity of the godhead there are three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-existent, co-equal, co-eternal. The Father is not the Son and the Son is not the Holy Spirit, yet each is truly Deity. One God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – is the foundation of Christian faith and life.

God the Father
God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth. He is faithful to every promise, works all things together for good to those who love him, and in his unfathomable grace gave his Son Jesus Christ for mankind’s redemption. He made man for fellowship with himself, and intended that all creation should live to the praise of his glory.

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He was perfect in nature, teaching and obedience. He is fully God and fully man. He was always with God and is God. He is the only Savior for the sins of the world, having shed his blood and died a vicarious death on Calvary’s cross. By his death in our place, he revealed the divine love and upheld divine justice, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. Having redeemed us from sin, the third day he rose bodily from the grave, victorious over death and the powers of darkness and for a period of forty days appeared to over five hundred witnesses, performing many convincing proofs of his resurrection. He ascended into heaven where, at God’s right hand, he intercedes for his people and rules as Lord over all. He is the Head of his body, the Church.

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. Through the proclamation of the gospel he persuades men to repent of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord. By the same Spirit a person is led to trust in divine mercy. The Holy Spirit unites believers to Jesus Christ in faith, brings about the new birth, and dwells within the regenerate. The Holy Spirit has come to glorify the Son who in turn came to glorify the Father. He will lead the Church into a right understanding and rich application of the truth of God’s Word.

The Church
The Church is not a religious institution or denomination. Rather, the Church universal is made up of those who have become genuine followers of Jesus Christ and have personally appropriated the gospel. The Church exists to worship and glorify God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It also exists to serve him by faithfully doing his will in the earth. This involves a commitment to see the gospel preached and churches planted in all the world for a testimony. The ultimate mission of the Church is the making of disciples through the preaching of the gospel.

Vincent and Pauline Matherick : Foster Parents Who Refused to Teach Homosexuality resign

Vincent and Pauline Matherick, who have fostered 28 children, are having to resign because they refuse to teach their foster children that homosexuality is okay.

Earlier this week, the Mathericks were asked to sign a contract to implement new Sexual Orientation Regulations as part of the Equality Act 2006 which makes discrimination based on sexuality illegal. Under the agreement, they would be required to discuss homosexual relationships with children as young as 11 and tell them that such relationships are just as acceptable as heterosexual ones. They could even be required to take teenagers to gay association meetings. When the couple refused, they were told that they would be taken off register of foster parents. Rather than face the humiliation of expulsion, the Mathericks elected to resign. However, they are planning on taking their case to court with the help of the Lawyer’s Christian Fellowship.

Mr Matherick, a 65-year-old retired travel agent and a primary school governor, said: “I simply could not agree to do it because it is against my central beliefs. We have never discriminated against anybody but I cannot preach the benefits of homosexuality when I believe it is against the word of God.”

This travesty comes at a time when there is a severe shortage of volunteer foster parents. Despite research showing that moving a child from home to home is detremental to its welfare, some foster children are forced to move up to 3 times a year. In order to rectify the problem, another 8,000 volunteer foster homes would be needed.

The 11 year old boy the couple had been looking after will be placed in a council hostel on Friday.

Religious campaigners say Vincent and Pauline Matherick are the latest victims of an equality drive which puts gay rights above religious beliefs.
