For the time being, let us forget the whole debate of whether Christians should celebrate the Valentines Day or not. On whichever side of this debate you are, one thing you cannot deny is that this special day is not promoting hatred or jealousy or sorrow or mischief. It is indeed a celebration of LOVE, a celebration of romance and that ultimately is a very good thing indeed.
Who is your Valentine? Is it Jesus?
A valentine is a sweetheart: specifically, someone who receives a greeting or attention on Valentine’s Day. When someone says that you are their “valentine,” they are simply choosing you as the person that they would like to show fondness to on this special Valentines Day. When people are married or dating, it is assumed that they are automatically the other person’s valentine due to the romantic relationship that they hold.
So in essence, it is a relationship based on LOVE and CARE. And when you think about it in that way, who do you think is loving you the most in this world? And whom should you love the most? Our Lord, Jesus Christ. And this makes HIM the perfect choice, urging all of us to say Jesus is my Valentine.
Thank GOD on this Valentines Day
Our creator has blessed all of us so much not only by being such a loving and caring father to all of us, but by giving us such adorable, loved ones who are with us on this earth. Our parents, our siblings, our grandparents, our cousins, our friends, our colleagues, our life partner, our children, our grandchildren – each of them makes us feel so special and so loved with their care and affection they show towards us. Thank God for HIS love towards us, Thank God on this day for giving us all these loved ones making our earthly life so pleasant and lovely.
At the same time, do think about the others too around you. Not all may be as lucky as you to have all those loved relationships in this life here on earth. How many people around us are so alone and yearn so much to have people around them to take care of them or having people with them for them to love and grow up with. Pray for each one of them to have special people soon in their lives which will make them a lot happier.
Things to do on this Valentines Day
Before love, comes forgiveness. Do forgive the people who have hurt you.
Praise and worship and thank our Jesus for blessing us so abundantly with our dear ones on earth.
Bring a smile on someone’s face today by helping them, financially or otherwise.
Pay a visit to an old age home near you, and spend time with those lonely souls.
Even if you give a present or not, make sure your partner or loved ones know today that they are so special to you.
