Why should we pray to Virgin Mary? The reasons are many.

Why do Catholics pray to Mother Mary? Is Rosary really powerful?

The intercession of Mother Mary is very powerful as Jesus cannot neglect His mothers commands.This can be proved by the first miracle Jesus did at the wedding at Cana. – (John 2:1-11). Mother Mary told Jesus “They have no more wine.” And what was the final result? He turned water into wine.

In “The Poem of the Man-God” by Maria Valtorta, she says that Jesus told her about this incident as “I did it for Mary”. This proves that the intercession of Mother Mary is very very strong.

Mother Mary was blessed with Holy Spirit abundantly. We can see this as we read “At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Luke 1:39-41) ; just by Virgin Mary’s greeting.

What the angels thought on this matter:-

When angel appeared before Zechariah,father of John, angel just greets him by his name ,nothing more although he was “upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commandments and regulations blamelessly.” – (Luke 1:6)

When angel appeared before Joseph, the greeting was like this: “an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” – (Matthew 1:20). Angel greeted him ‘son of david’, thats all.

Now let us see how did the angel greet Virgin Mary. It goes like this: “The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” (Luke 1:28). See the difference….

    Nobody is denouncing Mary, we are denouncing you for worshipping someone other than God to whom all worship is due. I have never met Mary but I am sure she was a lovely woman, I am sure she was typically Jewish and typically older when she died. I am sure that her body typically rotted in the ground and that she will be typically raised to new life when Jesus returns.

    Quoting the Pope is sily, we all know what a bunch of evil and sinful men they have been so we aren’t impressed by them saying they are God on earth, or that black is white. An evil tree cannot bring forth good fruit (Jesus said that!) so when I see a wicked man killing Christians with a wickedness unsurpassed by even Pagan Rome I know that the Pope is evil and that any organisation is no better than its head!

    As for the idea that Mary is defeating the devil!!! lol. Jesus has already defeated the devil, and he did so by making a public display of the fact! (It says that in the bible as well!)

    So you can make idols and bow down to them and call them whatever name you choose but since God forbids it He clearly won’t be thinking it a good thing will he?

    Mary said to do whatever Jesus said, Jesus said to pray to The Father. Jesus never said to pray to anyone else, nor did any NT writer suggest prayer to anyone but God. Of course you will ignore what Mary said, ignore what Jesus said, ignore what all the NT writers said and instead do what some wicked murderous Pope said won’t you?

    Underneath I note that you have links to Jesus wallpapers. So once again you do what God has forbidden rather than do what He has said.

Always thought Christians were well informed, but from the comments that I see, it’s pure hatred that is showcased, now to all those Bible thumpers, Are you really following Jesus/God’s Command “Love One Another, As I Loved You” “Love Your Neighbours As Yourself”…Why are you crucifying Christ again and again…by spewing stupidity, do not take just one verse and try to argue on that….I repeat, talk with substance, do not plagiarize the original Bible and say, it says here so and so, there about this, something else over here, so on……where did the Non-Catholics get the Bible from, Can anyone please answer this basic question?   10. When I was young, I used to believe Mama Mary, as I grew up, my belief to her and to other saints gone because I heard so many non-catholic who said we should not pray to these images. But then, I guess now is the time to believe again, be back to my belief as I was when I was a kid. Personally, I experienced miracle when I was young. I asked something during that time, I asked to win something so I could have money. Almost everyday, I visited the church to pray and asked mama mary. And the day comes that what I asked was given to me. Although the exact object was not given, but the equivalent of different object I received was still money. i joined a Raffle Promo and I won.

    The pope calls himself the vicar of Christ. Christ’s representative? I don’t think Jesus needs ANYONE to represent Him. He just wants us to FOLLOW Him and His Word. He can and does represent Himself and makes Himself known to those who have ears to listen to HIS voice! Please people…if you don’t believe me…with all of your heart, ask Jesus to SHOW YOU! He will if you believe He will.

    Either you are with Christ or Against Christ.There is no middle ground.

    Read the bible with an open mind and heart to Holy Spirit, and Jesus as only mediater in your prayers, and the Truth will set you free.

I have opened the Bible, compiled by the Church, The Roman Catholic Church….NOW Open your Bible and tell me who wrote it, Don’t give me Edition Names, KJV, etc., etc., where did your bible come from, your parents, your pastor, Marting Luther, Anglical Editions, how did it originate? from where…

    Don’t quote Bible verses unnecessarily….. as it does not make sense if you do not understand what it is meant to achieve.

    Now to reverse quote you, The Catholic Church was built on the same verses that you have quoted. And we were warned also even before your were (Protestant Cultists) protesting and scattering, that too after 1500 yrs after Jesus warned of false prophets. “Whoever is not with me is against me and whoever does not gather with me is scattering.”

    This is what Martin Luther did, and this is exactly what you all are doing, breaking the flock of the Lord and scattering the sheep, and you’ll know who wants this done.

    I don’t care who is Martin luther or cathoilc church or pope or priests or pasters or millions of saints. and i don’t care who wrote bible. Jesus not going to ask you that question.I beleive in christ and christ alone.
    At least open your bible and check where I used verses unnecessarily.
    Study the bible not history. Read the bible then come here and argue.

  19. Historical Fact: The Roman Catholic Chruch did not compile the scriptures nor create or invent the bible.
    The church has always had scriptures, initially it was the OT scriptures which clearly were used, understood and accepted by the earliest Christians as the NT and other hsitorical documents clearly show.
    Historical Fact: The scriptures were added to by the apostles and at the time theses additions were treated as scripture by the church.
    Peter and Paul’s writings make that clear.

    Jesus wanted unity amoungst His Church. What Thomas said in his previous comment was right. St. Francis Xavier and Martin Luther both brought forth a lot of changes, St. Francis Xavier did it under the guidence of the Holy Spirit.

    But on the other hand Martin Luther to satitisfy his lust to marry used the situation. Did it under the hood of satan. He broke the church. St. Francis Xavier never took any such steps to break the Church but brought reforms in a way that strenghtened the Church.

    You people are followers of a sinful man who went under the guidence of the satan.

    One question to all you so called christians. Dosen’t God have all authority on heaven an on earth.

    Then Him creating a soul to be the Mother for His Beloved Son, and sharing His Glory with Her is his own will. Who are you to condemn Her and question Her veneration.

    Stop your foolish argument and read the Bible with a open heart, Open to the Holy Spirit.

  21. The explanations given above by Thomas and George are more than sufficient for any person to understand the importance the role of Mother Mary in the plan of God. The many times she has appeared to humans alone can verify Her role as the most powerful intercessor in Heaven on our behalf. Those of us who love Her and honour Her as the Mother of God, the Queen of our race do not need explanations. However, for those who have gone astray by false interpretations of the Bible to suit their own agendas, no explanation will make them see the light of truth. They have gone so deep in their false beliefs that only Our Lord Jesus can make them see the light of truth. But then again I don’t think they would recognize Him even if He came and stood in front of them, cos then too they might say that He is just only a human being.

    Also those who do not believe in Mother Mary, must be discarding their mothers once they have become self sufficient and so they assume that once Jesus had fulfilled His mission on earth, Mother Mary has become once again a mere human being who has died. What a way of looking at it. At least they must think that if a person was attacking your own mother, how would they feel? Wouldn’t Jesus too feel the same way? Something too ponder on for those out there who think Mother Mary is someone whom we should not consider important.

    So I think all the explanations in the world would not make them change their minds if they have been brain washed by Satan. Only the Good Lord can do it, so let’s pray for them, especially to Our Blessed Mother to intercede on their behalf. May God Bless you all and our Blessed Mother enfold you all in Her mantle of Love.

    In-fact St. Peter was the First Pope, who by Jesus’ command Sheperded the early Christians.

    So do you have any historical evidence that Peter was ever in Rome? Was the first Pope? was a Roman Catholic? Of course you don’t because the RCC made it up.

    How can I get angry? It is just that there are so many of you, who are on lost agenda! which makes us feel bad.

    It is good that you mentioned that you don’t care where the word of God comes from, but you care/believe for Christ. I love that. It is like the Centurion in the parable who understood AUTHORITY.

    But it is important what you read, cause as I had mentioned, so also in my posts; there are lots of discrepancies in the bibles available today, which mislead people. Since translations, modifications were made to suit certain peoples fantasies. Refer comment #900.

    It is this very Bible that made me realise the importance and the prophecies about Mother Mary, not that she becomes more important that God, but that she becomes very and all the more important for mankind to follow her examples of leading a pious life doing only God’s will assigned to her.

    If I respect her, does she become more important, NO! she does not. Do I worship her, NO WAY!

    If I belong to a system/group of common interest people, a communion built on Christ, does this in any way decrease my belief in God, NO WAY…

    This is what the Catholic Church teaches us. How can it be otherwise?

    The Church follows teachings which are age old and rich in traditions set by the Apostles, who had first hand experience with Christ himself, and handed over the same to the generations, from Christ till date….We do have issues, but the Church, that is all the people who believe in Christ put together have opposed it and lived a life believing in God’s promise…not by our own power, but because of God’s GRACE.

    Now how does this become satanic (as some have posted), how does this become evil…Does the breaking of the Bread during the Eucharistic Celebration become evil…NO WAY, this was asked to be done by Christ himself in Luke 22:19 “Do this in remembrance of me”, which Prayer can be more powerful and greater than “The Eucharistic Celebration” in the whole world…

    If this was given by Christ himself and followed, preached by the Church, how can it become evil, how then can the Church which stands by Christ become evil.

    How do you identify yourself that you belong to Christ? You can do that alone, but what does the greatest of all the commandments teach us…. ‘Love one another; just as I have loved you, you should also love one another.’
    Now the next verse says, “Every person will know by this that you are my disciples, if you shall have love one to the other.” This is what the Catholic Church does, how….

    Now when you love Christ, you tend to get together in communion, now if this was a small group, we can take turns to lead. But what about millions & billions who believe in Christ, don’t you think you need to have a system in place, which brings order & faith, build hope, represent these very people (like the sermon on the mount, where the apostles gather the people in groups for the meal, provided by Christ, and also when they were sent out in pairs to preach, heal, etc.,) enforce Christ’s laws, sticking to traditions (Traditions are very important, since God does not want us to worship him, like the heathens), and so on

    That’s what the Catholic Church does today…

    Having believed and living in Christ, the Church does undergo temptations. As mentioned in the Bible, Christ was tempted in the desert. Now, when Christ himself was tempted in the desert, how much more will we be tempted. Christ himself said that no servant is greater than the master, when he was crucified, don’t you know that we’ll be put to much peril, that we are weak and need God’s constant grace and mercy…that’s what the Catholic Church does, bringing forth a set of Prayers for all occassions, situations, preaching the Word of God-The Bible, Celebrating the Eucharist – The Greatest Of All Prayers, listing out traditions, rules, laws, etc., and appointing shepherds for each Parish across the Globe, educating people, caring for them in hospitals, old age homes, orphanages, there are so many activities which the Church does.

    Now in the process of doing God’s will and being fallible men, The Church is bound to face challenges, which will definitely arise, because the one below, the fallen angel does not like this, this community, this oneness, this Church, so there are bound to be disturbances within the Church.

    What will you do, if your parents fight? As Children and Cousins, will you help them reconcile or separate them, since they are incompatible. How much more situations does the Church face every day, every moment?

    Now will you pray for this Church made up of totally incompatible people across different geographies, different tongues, different opinions, etc., or will you separate yourselves from the community or what we call as The Universal Church or The Catholic Church as it is not concern of yours and start your own group or become an Atheist. For me the Church and Christ are synonymous, like Christ and the Israelites, the Chosen Tribe. The Church is the Shepherd and we are the Sheep.

    So whatever situations we might face today, we will stick to the Church, because in Union within ourselves and with Christ we will defeat the evil one…In faith, we will defeat the fallen angel, because Victory is Ours, which was purchased by Christ himself, and this was made possible because of the obedience of Mother Mary. And it is foolish of CERTAIN people to equate this relationship between The Catholic Church and Mother Mary as WORSHIP.

    So bashing The Catholic Church and dishonouring Mother Mary is like fooling youselves with false beliefs, or rather raises from mis-understanding the Bible. I do not see any difference in what Lucifer did, by turning against God and in turn facing his wrath and what some of the Non-catholics/Christians do by turning against the Church and in turn scattering the sheep.

    This I understood in reading The Bible and from The Church teachings.

  26. yep…! For sure Phil, Every one knows St. Peter was maryrtered in Rome, and that is the reason The Holy Catholic Church has its seat in Rome. Since the Christans captured Rome, and it was the seat of a powerful empire, the Leaders of the Church decided to make Rome the Seat of Christ’s Vicar. This is a fact that every one knows, pitty on you coze you are blinded by hatred for the only Church.

    I personally wanted to ask you this question the time you entered this post, What difference is in your mind about the ‘Catholic Church’ and the ‘Roman Catholic Church’? They are one and the same, The only reason ‘Roman’ is added to ‘Catholic Church’ is that His Holiness Christ’s Vicar is seated in Rome.

  27. You are right Marina – no amount of explanation will change their mind. I know. I was one of them.
    I argued long and hard with a friend of mine in Kent who is a catholic. She would not budge. We agreed to differ.
    But with 3 hymns and a homily, I soon fell off the methodist cliff right in to a new age net.
    The new age sect I was in believed in the 7 masters who are the 7 lampstands around the throne of God – i.e. the 7 spirits of God. Jesus is one of the 7. This made me suspicious from the beginning.
    And they believed in masons – frightening…

    To cut a long story short, by the time the Lord lifted me out of the new age sect on 9.11.05, my enmity towards the Catholic Church had disappeared. Like the prodigal son, I was ready to return Home.
    All we can do is pray for our brothers and sisters.
