The Origin of Life and The Prebiotic Soup

The Origin of Life

Science would never be able to go beyond God, the sustainer of scientific principles.

Scientists are trying their best to define the origin of life. They think that it all started with a chemical evolution of simple matter into an organic soup called the prebiotic soup. The prebiotic soup apparently evolved into the present complex living organism. The scientists even think that inter-stellar meteorites carrying organic matter from outer space hit the earth and brought forth life. They are attributing complex intelligence to chemical bonds and are assuming that this evolved over the years to its present form.

Interestingly, the scientists are still struggling to explain the formation of complex carbohydrates by using the prebiotic theory. They cannot explain why only the left-handed isomer (mirror-image) of amino acids is used by living beings and not the right-handed isomer. If they cannot explain the simple formation of carbohydrates and proteins, in the origin of the prebiotic soup, how can they explain the unimaginable complexities of the highly developed organism?

NASA does not put the components of a rocket and allow it to evolve into a rocket. Computer engineers have never seen a computer evolving itself from its components. If scientists know that complex machines cannot evolve by itself, why do they attribute complex intelligence to chemical bonds? It does not make sense.

The pride of man is worst when he is intelligent. It even becomes hypocritical. Intelligent men often shut their mind to simple child-like reasoning, when it comes to the question of intelligent design by a creator. They attribute self-evolving intelligence to matter, with out even opening their mind to the possibility of a creator.

God has given us rational mind. We should use it rationally. God is the author of every scientific principle and it is his Spirit of wisdom that gives us understanding about the complexities of the universe. Humans are rational beings as we are created in the image of God. God does not want us to be irrational and ignorant. He put the Spirit of knowledge in us.

It is hypocritical to put complex intelligence to created things like chemical bonds rather than acknowledging that life is the creation of a highly intelligent superior being called God. Never put glory to created things, but give all glory to the creator.

Science will cease to be science when we put original intelligence to created chemicals. Science will then become like a pagan religion, which worship created things and attribute glory to the creature rather than to the creator.

  1. I am in 100% agreement with the ideas expressed by Dr. Jacob. C. Tony in his article titled “The Origin of Life and The Prebiotic Soup”. Scientific mind is in confrontation with the ‘unknown, factor and is very reluctant to accept that factor as God. I will like to reproduce an extract from an article written by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1931, The title was ‘ON GOD’
…” There is an indefinable mysterious power which pervades every thing. I don’t see it though I feel it. It is that unseen power which makes itself felt yet defies all proof. It is so because it is unlike all that I can perceive through my senses. It transcends the senses”
