New Year Recipe

New Year Recipe

Take twelve whole months,
Clean them thoroughly of all bitterness, hate, and jealousy,
Make them just as fresh and clean as possible.

Now cut each month into twenty-eight, thirty, or
thirty-one different parts,
but don’t make up the whole batch at once.
Prepare it one day at a time out of these ingredients.

Mix well into each day one part of faith,
one part of patience, one part of courage,
and one part of work.

Add to each day one part of hope,
faithfulness, generosity, and kindness.
Blend with one part prayer,
one part meditation, and one good deed.
Season the whole with a dash of good spirits,
a sprinkle of fun, a pinch of play,
and a cupful of good humor.

Pour all of this into a vessel of love.
Cook thoroughly over radiant joy,
garnish with a smile,
and serve with quietness, unselfishness,
and cheerfulness.

You’re bound to have a Happy New Year.

Sailing Into New Year

Sailing With Jesus into New Year

God built and launched this year for you;
Upon the bridge you stand;

It’s your ship, aye, your own ship,
And you are in command.

Just what the twelve months? trip will do
Rests wholly, solely, friend, with you.

Your logbook kept from day to day
My friend, what will it show?

Have you on your appointed way
Made progress, yes or no?

The log will tell, like guiding star,
The sort of captain that you are.

For weal or woe this year is yours;
Your ship is on life’s sea

Your acts, as captain, must decide
Whichever it shall be;

So now in starting on your trip,
Ask God to help you sail your ship.

The eve of a new year is often a great time to reflect, to rejoice over the progress of the past year while also learning from the setbacks and mistakes. Then it’s time to look forward. What would you like to accomplish? What would you like to change?

One key to succeeding in the new year is to plan ahead but not worry ahead. “Don’t worry” may seem easier said than done, particularly if you are facing an uncertain future with health, financial, or personal problems. This is why planning alone is not enough.

Peace of mind comes from putting your future in God’s hands and trusting Him to work things out. If you not only make plans, but also commit those plans to Him, He promises to help bring your plans to fruition.

“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:5). Of course, this is provided your plans are within the scope of what He knows is best for you and others involved, so the first step is to check your plans with Him—or better yet, get your plans from Him.

Take a few quiet minutes to open your mind to God, and He will put His thoughts there. He loves you and has your best interests at heart, so ask Him to help you set goals and lay plans, and He will.

You just might find that His ideas are far better than your own. He says, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3). And with Him, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

Do what you can by asking God for direction as you plan and prepare for the year ahead, and commit your needs to Him in prayer. Then continue to seek His help throughout the year, and watch Him guide, provide, and take care of you!

New Year Prayer:-

Dear Jesus, I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I put that future in Your hands. Thank You for the many promises You have given that encourage me to trust You (Psalm 37:3; 73:28; Proverbs 29:25). Help me to have faith as I begin this new year, to be fully persuaded that what You have promised, You will also perform (Romans 4:21). No matter what life has in store, may I stay close to You and draw comfort from the knowledge that nothing can separate me from Your love (Romans 8:38-39). May I walk in truth (3 John 4), in love (Ephesians 5:2), in wisdom (Colossians 4:5), and most of all with You. Amen.
