At this crucial moment in the life of the early church, the people joined together to look for leaders to help take care of the needy widows among them. While the task appears to be a “physical” task — taking care of hungry widows — the men chose to take care of this task had to be spiritual men. Spiritual in this context means men of faith and men full of Holy Spirit.

Let’s see this as a reminder that all of God’s work is spiritual and all who serve need to be spiritual as well!

Prayer : O Father, forgive us for segmenting our lives into spiritual and secular categories. Deep in our hearts, we know that all of our lives are to be lived under the influence and guidance of your Holy Spirit. Help us be discerning as we try to find those to lead and serve in every area of our lives as your people so that what we do and how we do it will reflect your holy character and your gracious compassion. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

The flesh can not Please God.
Earthly desires,
Its goals and pursuits,
Have no eternal value.

God in us, His Holy spirit,

in our hearts, minds and souls.

He who raised Christ

Draw closer to Christ only this

In the solace of Adoration
I ask the Holy Spirit to pray thorough me
Giving my mind, heart
and Spirit to Him

The Holy Spirit knows How to Pray For me.
Better than I do myself,
John Paul II encouraged us to
do this and cry out to Him.

“Come, Holy Spirit pray for me!”
For my children, my spouse, My friends,
my everyday needs.
You know my needs before I even
Bring them to you.

Lord send out your spirit
And renew the face of the earth!
Jesus  My Lord, My God and My Savior,
May we know unity by Your Holy Spirit.

We have a love that can never
Be taken from us,

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” - (Acts 2:17)

So much hand wringing goes on to determine when the “last days” will occur. Yet the prophecy of Joel 2 begins to be fulfilled in Acts 2. The events happening are the beginning of the “last days”!

Since the coming of the Holy Spirit that first Pentecost after Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, we have been in the last days. Jesus’ coming is near. He stands at the edge of history.

Since Jesus, we have stood at the “culmination of the ages” (Heb. 9:26) waiting for God’s final victory when he sends Jesus to return for us (1 Thess. 4:13-18). And the key to these last days? The Holy Spirit — God’s presence within us, God’s presence for us, and God’s assurance to us that we are part of his great victory.

The Holy Spirit didn’t come to a select few, to but to all who belong to Jesus. No wonder old and young, men and women, have words from God to share and dreams from heaven to inspire!

Prayer : Almighty God, thank you for the coming of your Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Thank you for sending your Spirit to me when I came to Christ. Thank you for your abiding presence within me and assurance for me through your indwelling Spirit. I await, with the help of the Holy Spirit, the great victory that I know is coming in Christ. Thank you for this assured hope! In Jesus’ name I praise you! Amen.
