Christ Jesus died on the Cross to redeem mankind, to save us from our sins, because He loves us. As recorded in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ was mocked, scorned, and tortured in the praetorium. He carried his cross up the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem to Calvary, nailed to the Cross, hung between two common criminals, and suffered an indescribable end, recalled by the Church on Good Friday of Holy Week.

When religious pilgrimages to the Holy Land ended with military occupation of Jerusalem in the Middle Ages, a popular devotion known as the Way of the Cross arose during Lent retracing the Passion, Crucifixion, and Death of Jesus. The fourteen stations of the Cross are (1) Pilate condemns Jesus to death; (2) Jesus takes up his Cross; (3) He falls the first time; (4) Jesus meets his sorrowful mother Mary; (5) Simon helps carry the cross; (6) Veronica cleans his face; (7) He falls the second time; (8) Jesus consoles the women of Jerusalem; (9) He falls the third time; (10) Jesus is stripped of his garments; (11) Jesus is nailed to the cross; (12) Jesus Christ dies on the cross; (13) He is taken down from the cross; (14) Christ is laid in the tomb.

Peace with God
We have peace with God
Through my lord Jesus Christ
Through my lord Jesus Christ

Peace with God
We have peace with God

Peace He gives me
Not as the world gives
And hence my heart has no trouble at all

Peace with God
We have peace with God
Through our lord Jesus Christ
Through our lord Jesus Christ

Love of God
We have love of God
Through me lord Jesus Christ
Through me lord Jesus Christ

Love He gives me
Not as the world gives
And in my heart I have love for all

Love of God
We have love of god

Peace with God
We have peace with God
Through my lord Jesus Christ
Through my lord Jesus Christ

Peace with God
We have peace with God
Love of God
We have love of God

Working For God by Andrew Murray

Working For God by Andrew Murray

Working For God by Andrew Murray
A sequel to Waiting on God

Download Working for God by Andrew Murray PDF

The aim of good works is that God is glorified, not man, Andrew Murray tells us in the beginning of this book. Waiting on God is part of the work process. This book Working For God is a sequel to Waiting on God. Goto Waiting on God PDF.

Offering oneself as an instrument through whom God can work is the chief objective of life, Murray writes. Work is the “highest form of existence” he adds, noting that we are defined by our work. We are what we do in a sense. In maintaining a Christian perspective, he places work in the context of love, noting that “The most Godlike thing is love.”

Fruitfulness is an outcome of work. Fruit is produced spontaneously. It isn’t forced. Murray presages Rick Warren in discussing how fulfilling one’s God-given role with talent and ability leads to a sense of satisfaction. He goes so far as to say “The works of a man not only reveal his life, they develop and exercise, they strengthen and perfect it. Good works are of the very essence of the Divine life in us.”

Murray sounds a theme found in Robert A. Schuller’s work when he talks about Divine work requiring Divine intervention. Dr. Schuller similarly talks about a God sized dream, one that cannot occur unless God is involved. Faith is a necessary part of such a dream becoming a reality. In the conclusion he returns to the opening comments about waiting on God. If one is to achieve what God designed him to achieve, it will have to be done God’s way. That can only come about as one waits on God.

Introduction

The object of this little book is first of all to remind all Christian workers of the greatness and the glory of the work in which God gives a share. It is nothing less than that work of bringing men back to their God, at which God finds His highest glory and blessedness. As we see that it is God’s own work we have to work out, that He works it through us, that in our doing it His glory rests on us and we glorify Him, we shall count it our joy to give ourselves to live only and wholly for it.

The aim of the book at the same time is to help those who complain, and perhaps do not even know to complain, that they are apparently labouring in vain, to find out what may be the cause of so much failure. God’s work must be done in God’s way, and in God’s power. It is spiritual work, to be done by spiritual men, in the power of the Spirit. The clearer our insight into, and the more complete our submission to, God’s laws of work, the surer and the richer will be our joy and our reward in it.

Along with this I have had in view the great number of Christians who practically take no real part in the service of their Lord. They have never understood that the chief characteristic of the Divine life in God and Christ is love and its work of blessing men. The Divine life in us can show itself in no other way. I have tried to show that it is God’s will that every believer without exception, whatever be his position in life, gives himself wholly to live and work for God. - Andrew Murray
