This happened on May 13, 1981. Pope John Paul II was shot as he arrived in St. Peter’s Square to speak to the people who had gathered there. When he was shot, he was holding the rosary, which he always carried. When he fell to the ground, out of nowhere, a woman rushed to his side and embraced him. That pic is shown above. The picture is said to have been taken by one of the gathered people who was busy taking Pope’s pics with his camera. The woman vanished as quickly as she appeared.
The gunman was apprehended in the square and sentenced to life in prison. The pope was critically wounded but survived after surgery and a long recovery. The surprising fact is that all the bullets passed just past his vital internal organs. When he recovered finally, the first thing Pope asked for was his rosary. When he got it in his hands, he said that he felt Mother Mary directing the bullets’ path through him. Sure, John Paul II was always in the habit of praying the rosary regularly. He had once said “The best prayer I like is the Rosary”.
Joaquin Navarro Valls, who is the one spokesman from The Vatican, said that they made a lot of studies for years of this incredible picture and of course about the quality of the developing of the picture because when it was developed nobody could see very well because the image was not clear. Finally, and after so many controls and being looking and checking by all the experts in photography (around the world), they decided that there were no tricks in it and today they give us this beautiful gift from our Mother of God. You can see the Mother of God holding John Paul II in her arms. Beautiful right?
I dont know whether You will believe me or not. But many do. And among those who believed, Bishop Thomas Wenski recreated the picture on a glass window at his Florida residence. You can see that below…
Let this remind us of the awesome power of the intercession of Mother Mary and lead us to take a strong decision to pray the rosary regularly.

The stain-glass window is a different picture it is Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Also I would be careful with talking about the first picture, we (Catholics) do not need special assurance that God loves the Pope, and since you have no authority to declare this picture a real photography you might think of quoting some documents of the Church that state the authenticity of this picture as photography.

I believe such picture without any confusion, but let me outline some of the non Catholic believers suggestions; i) Why this picture has not published on the same spot of incident.
ii) Who was taken the picture that time.
iii) Can you publish this Popes picture through News papers, TVs and all Media in the world so that, those who are in doubt must accept and believe to the full story of the mysterious. Hence, I wish to give those who have been dealt a very best in their career and May God Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit be with you always.
You should not worship Mary. She is NOT God. Sure she was blessed to carry the Son of God but I repeat she is NOT God. Also, the fact that the Son of God, Jesus, said to not call any man “Father” on this earth and yet you do the exact thing that the Son of God told you not to do by calling some man a POPE. The word “POPE” means “Father”. So you decide to worship Mary and worship a man you call Father and deny the true God by doing so.
Nice picture, but the story behind it is untrue. The aide mentioned as taking the picture and verifying it was contacted and he said that it was NOT true. While it is a nice thought, I would prefer to have the arms of God wrapped around me, not one of his creations!

It ia an awesome portrait and very true. It is very sad there are so many unbelievers. Catholics do not worship Mary we have devotion to her. She is the mother of Jesus who is God. Remember Jesus said not to weep for him but for your children and yourselves. Nobody gets to heaven unless they go through the mother. And only those who believe in the Blessed Trinity. The Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

I disagree with what Jackie King posted stating “Nobody gets to heaven unless they go through the mother”. Where in the BIBLE does it state this? Jesus said HE is the Way, the Truth and the life and no man can come to the Father except through HIM – NOT MARY!!!. Please read your bible. This is heresy people…wake up! You are making a very erroneous assumption if you think that everything that is true about the Christian faith is contained in the bible.
The Christian faith is an Apostolic Faith. This means that it is passed on from Bishop to Bishop down through the centuries and originated with Jesus. And this very notion is in the bible:
2Thes. 2:15″So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter.”
Do you think the bible fell from Heaven on Good Friday? In fact the entire bible is tradition that finally made it to paper one day and declared canonical by these true apostolic bishops. So if you believe that the bible is from God then you need to obey the authority of the Catholic Church that declared these 27 new testament books to be so.

I don’t like to discourage anyone and indeed we know that Mary and Jesus were assuradely with the Holy Father when he was shot! My concern is that if this is a favrication or exaggeration, some harm is done to truth itself and truth is our message always. We have no need of imagined or exaggerated images or tales to know that the faith holds and treasurers TRUTH above all because as Jesus saide: “I am the way, the truth and the life!
Thus you can understand, I would not proliferate this email unless it has some serious strong affirmations from the vatican and I for one have never seen or heard of any.

The Word of God is THE only standard for living out faith based on what JESUS said Himself and that is that HE is the only WAY, THE truth and THE Life and no man can come to THE Father except through HIM. Now, that tells me that I cannot get to heaven unless #1 I go through Jesus (Not Mary), #2 I have to know what my faith is about in order to walk it out and He supplied that for me by divinely inspiring and preserving His book for those who believe unto salvation. Based on the BIBLE I must line everything up to His Word for what is truth and not what some Bishop or Pope or whomever wants to tell me I need to do. If it’s going against what the Bible tells me than the Bible isn’t wrong, they are.

You may like this painting of a lousy photoshop job as far as I’m concerned, but the story that is being dished up is, of course, complete drivel. There is TV-footage of the attack and the wounded pope, no Mary in sight, there were hundreds of people present – apparently apart from the unidentified photographer no-one ever saw an apparition of any saint -just policemen and security guards, who for one thing don’t look like St. mary as she is usually depicted. The Pope even went the length of thanking St. Mary of Fatima (why not Mary of Lourdes or Czestochowa or any other Mary remains unclear) instead of the hard working highly skilled doctors who really saved his life.
Can’t the other Christians stay out of the way of what us Catholics believe. No one ever said we worship the Virgin Mary, yet you all assume that you do. We Catholics are the last ones that want to hear your preaching.

Beautiful story, but according the the TV footage video of the incident, Pope John Paul II fell back in the jeep he was in, not to the ground, no mentioned of any woman rushing out of nowhere was mentioned. If this was the case everyone in the world would have heard of it. This would be on National TV for years to come.
