The aim of good works is that God is glorified, not man, Andrew Murray tells us in the beginning of this book. Waiting on God is part of the work process. This book Working For God is a sequel to Waiting on God. Goto Waiting on God PDF.

Offering oneself as an instrument through whom God can work is the chief objective of life, Murray writes. Work is the “highest form of existence” he adds, noting that we are defined by our work. We are what we do in a sense. In maintaining a Christian perspective, he places work in the context of love, noting that “The most Godlike thing is love.”

Fruitfulness is an outcome of work. Fruit is produced spontaneously. It isn’t forced. Murray presages Rick Warren in discussing how fulfilling one’s God-given role with talent and ability leads to a sense of satisfaction. He goes so far as to say “The works of a man not only reveal his life, they develop and exercise, they strengthen and perfect it. Good works are of the very essence of the Divine life in us.”

Murray sounds a theme found in Robert A. Schuller’s work when he talks about Divine work requiring Divine intervention. Dr. Schuller similarly talks about a God sized dream, one that cannot occur unless God is involved. Faith is a necessary part of such a dream becoming a reality. In the conclusion he returns to the opening comments about waiting on God. If one is to achieve what God designed him to achieve, it will have to be done God’s way. That can only come about as one waits on God.

Introduction

The object of this little book is first of all to remind all Christian workers of the greatness and the glory of the work in which God gives a share. It is nothing less than that work of bringing men back to their God, at which God finds His highest glory and blessedness. As we see that it is God’s own work we have to work out, that He works it through us, that in our doing it His glory rests on us and we glorify Him, we shall count it our joy to give ourselves to live only and wholly for it.

The aim of the book at the same time is to help those who complain, and perhaps do not even know to complain, that they are apparently labouring in vain, to find out what may be the cause of so much failure. God’s work must be done in God’s way, and in God’s power. It is spiritual work, to be done by spiritual men, in the power of the Spirit. The clearer our insight into, and the more complete our submission to, God’s laws of work, the surer and the richer will be our joy and our reward in it.

Along with this I have had in view the great number of Christians who practically take no real part in the service of their Lord. They have never understood that the chief characteristic of the Divine life in God and Christ is love and its work of blessing men. The Divine life in us can show itself in no other way. I have tried to show that it is God’s will that every believer without exception, whatever be his position in life, gives himself wholly to live and work for God. - Andrew Murray

31-Day Devotional

In all areas of their lives, Christians need more of God. Andrew Murray shares thirty-one heartfelt meditations to help renew your vision and quicken your desire to turn to God for His quiet, peaceful strength. Discover how God’s presence and love can refresh the weary heart that learns to wait on Him.

How often the ‘busyness’ of life can creep up and overwhelm us. Rather than depending upon our own strength, as Christians it is our privileged birthright to enter into a daily time of reverent meditation and silence, waiting only upon God for: His answers to our problems, His direction in our lives, and, most importantly, His awesome presence refreshing our spirits and teaching us more about Himself.

Andrew Murray shares thirty-one heartfelt meditations, one for each day of the month, to help renew our vision and quicken our desire to turn to the Lord for His quite, peaceful strength. Murray’s own prayer was that the Lord would use these meditations “to draw all to Himself, to learn in practice and experience the blessed art of waiting only upon God.”

About Andrew Murray

South African pastor and author Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was an amazingly prolific writer. Murray began writing on the Christian life for his congregation as an extension of his local pastoral work, but he became internationally known for his books, such as Abide in Christ, that searched men’s hearts and brought them into a deep relationship with Christ. Writing with an intensity of purpose and zeal for the message of the Gospel, Murray wrote numerous books even after his “retirement” at age seventy-eight.

The Walk Of The Spirit, The Walk Of Power

The Walk Of The Spirit The Walk Of Power

The Walk of the Spirit — The Walk of Power
Vital Role of Praying in Tongues

Download The Walk of The Spirit The Walk of Power PDF

I recommend this book by Dave Roberson if you are serious about wanting a closer or deeper relationship with God. The theology presented lines up with the Scriptures. This book explains the differences in praying in tongues for personal edification vs. the gift of tongues, etc. The gift of our prayer language is misunderstood. Most Christians do not realize the importance of utilizing what God has so freely given to those who ASK. Simply written, it is the truth of God’s Word unveiled for those who will believe God’s Word in spite of man’s teaching.

God conceived a wonderful plan for every one of us. In His plan, we were predestined to become His sons and daughters at the Cross. But one potential obstacle stands between us and God’s perfectly conceived purposes: Using the free will God has given us, we must choose to walk in the plan He has ordained for our lives.

God looks for a way to approach each of us in order to present His personal plan for our lives. He begins with the preaching of the Cross that encourages us to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. If we accept Jesus, we take our first step into the plan God predestined for us before the foundations of the world. But if we reject Him, then like so many before us, we will live and die without ever taking that first step — salvation — into the divine purpose for our existence.
